In the fight against crime, the miniature remote-controlled helicopter known as the Air Robot has proven to be an extremely useful tool. This drone was originally created for the military, but is now being experimented for use with the UK police to help them  track down criminals and carry out surveillance missions.

The drone got its first trial run when the police were recently tailing two suspected car thieves. After being spotted in a stolen car, the two suspects decided to ditch the car and make a run for it on foot. For one 20-year-old suspect, this was a bad idea since he almost immediately got caught. As for the other suspect, a 16-year-old male, he managed to outrun the police and lose them in the thick fog that had just rolled in. air robot control 202x241 custom Unmanned Drone Robot Catches Car ThiefNormally this would have  meant that the suspect would just hide somewhere for a bit and hope that the police would give up on searching for him after an hour or two.

Unfortunately for him, he was trying to run from the Merseyside police, one of the few police forces trying out the Air Robot. This robot is equipped with thermal imaging technology, which makes it extremely easy to locate just about anything giving off body heat. Within minutes, the suspect was found hiding in a bush and was subsequently arrested.

As of right now, this is only being experimented with by a handful of police forces and government agencies, but with all the success that it brought so far, the Air Robot might soon become as common a tool for the authorities as the two-way radio.
