The City of Los Angeles has recently implemented mobile surveillance cameras in one of the city’s and nation’s largest port of calls. The mobile technology will allow police to capture live video using their cell phone cameras. The footage will then be accessible online, which will allow colleagues to check in on officers in the field.
Julia Kirwan, a port police official, said the mobile cameras are critical for a force tasked with protecting a massive complex and 46 miles of waterfront. The software is part of a $4.2 million initiative to help port police improve the way they manage critical incidents.
