As fun as it can be to install third party software that’s not approved by Apple, it can also damage your iPad and leave you vulnerable to viruses and hacks. By not having to answer to Apple before putting the apps on the market, the creators can put in a keylogger type of software to steal your information, or even take total control over it, making phone calls and sending texts, while blocking you out.

By jailbreaking your iPad, your battery will also drain much faster, since jailbreaking gives you have the ability to run multiple apps at the same time. And since the apps and the app installer itself are a bit buggy, it might crash your iPad and require that you restore it from your official and proper Apple backup.

This just goes to show, that even high security companies like Apple, that try to keep their most prized gadgets, like the iPad and iPhone locked up and safe from hackers, can be exploited only days after the products are launched.
