6337970517002271471129923_30_HudsonWise_060309_131.JPGThe recently fired Publicity Director for Dolce & Gabbana, Ali Wise, has been charged with using an illegal software called Spoofcard to hack into her rivals cell phones and listen to their messages. Not once, not twice, but over 700 times, prosecutors say. She would use the Spoofcard to hack into the voicemails of her rivals and promptly delete any that she did not like. Her target? Primarily the new girlfriends of her exes including interior designer Nina Freudenberger, the new girlfriend of Wise’s ex, Josh Deutsch, the CEO and founder of Downtown Records.

“I used the SpoofCard to get into her voice mails,” Wise confessed when cops asked about the alleged hacking onslaught, according to the criminal complaint against her.

Wise, a fixture on the Manhattan social scene is rumored to be buddies with the likes of Kate Hudson and other big time Hollywood and NYC players. Left high and dry by her celebrity entourage, Wise was taken into custody at the Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday where she faces four counts each of computer trespass, eavesdropping, computer tampering, aggravated harassment, and one count of stalking.

I am going to go out on a limb and defend my friend Al Wise. Ali is not the jealous mean girl being portrayed in the Post and the zealous tabloid press. Ali would never intentionally break the law. Her actions could be described as compulsive but in this digital world many girls and guys I know do similar things. The Spoof Card happens to be illegal and Ali would have never used it in this way, especially so many times, had she known this. I saw the complaint and no where does it mention “other women” or “love rivals”. So I do not understand where the press gets these facts? One girl’s name has been mentioned in the complaint and it has been highly publicized that there was a silly cat fight and what this other girl did to Ali and Jason was just as intrusive if not intentionally malicious. Ali allegedly used the card 700 times over a 4 year period, it is excessive, but it does not warrant Felony Charges in my opinion. Ali is being made a public example to prove new technology laws. Invasion of privacy, yes, but she did not knowingly break the law. There was no intent to commit fraud or harm. Anyone that KNOWS Ali, adores her. She is funny, smart, pretty, vivacious and guys have always LOVED her. Guys have been obsessed with her to the point where her friends jokingly ask Ali advice on how she make guys fall so hard! Ali could write the book! So it is strange to people that know her intimately to see her being portrayed so inaccurately. It just shows us the new media manipulates everything and even if her actions speak otherwise to an outsider, her intentions do not line up with the perception being reiterated. Ali is human and made a mistake, many- and I will not defend that part. The tabloid press is mean-spirited and they don’t fact check. They are jealous of a girl like Ali that they perceive to “have it all”- they want to rip her to shreds and with great pleasure. Sadly, this should not be front page news and if she wasn’t a well known pretty girl with high profile relationships and jobs this would not be newsworthy. Both Josh Deutsch and Jason Pomeranc , her ex-boyfriends, are still supporting her and they know her better than anyone else.
So in the end the people who love her showing their support speaks infinitely about Ali’s character. It is ironic that Ali is being portrayed as the “scorned lover” or the “crazy girl”, I realize the facts (even skewed) without knowing Ali, out of context, could be perceived wrongly – but it is just not the case. Ali is not malicious or a “stalker” (please)- and i speak on behalf of many of her friends and colleagues who love her and will continue to support during this difficult time. We all hope she has strength to hold her head up high and know this too shall pass.
