Facial Recognition Coming to a Smartphone Near You

We depend on passwords to protect everything electronic. And in the past we’ve offered security horror stories and helpful tips to optimize your privacy.  But in the end, passwords are just words; and words can be discovered by others and used maliciously against us.

Fortunately, the days of relying solely on passwords may soon be over. The next generation of security and identity verification will instead rely on your face and voice, something you can never lose, misplace, or get stolen. And this new generation is starting with your mobile phone, securing your e-mail and social networking accounts.

Using a screen side camera and built-in microphone, this biometric tool runs in the background and instantly locks up when the user is not recognized, and unlocks everything when the user is seen. And don’t think that it can be fooled with a photographthis tool also tracks facial movement like blinking, talking, and also listens for the user’s voice to verify identity.

Whoa, that is pretty impressive. Kind of puts my mind at ease a little bit. Though with experience, I feel like someone would figure out a way to work around this security feature.

This is the very thing that I hoped would come to light,(biometric recognition system), if smart enough to bring this app to past, then surely your imagination can keep safe your security features, after all, it was the imagination to create it. Just think of the ways you can put your own twist to secure personal gadgets. I can think of several ways to enhance this feature.
