Smartphones Targeted by Hackers in Dial Abroad Scheme

As phones become “smarter” and let you do so much more than just make phone calls, hackers are seeing a new platform to target. One method that they are using is to hide malware in games such as 3D Anti-Terrorist and PDA Poker Art. Once installed onto your phone, the malware will secretly dial premium numbers in other countries and charge the victim’s bill for every call.

The creators of this malware program also run the premium phone plans that these programs use when calling abroad. When the malware installs on your phone, it will rack up huge bill using these premium phone plans. You’re basically, the idea is to rob you using your smartphone. The worst part for the victim is that they are usually clueless about what is going on, until they get the phone bill.
